History, Theory, Biography: A Psychoanalytic Conversation with Prof. Peter L. Rudnytsky
Psychoanalysis is a discipline deeply rooted in history. As practitioners, we are called not only to understand the histories of our patients but also to navigate the complex history of the field itself. We utilize a wide range of concepts—some compatible, others conflicting—to make sense of the human experience.
But where do these theories come from? Just as our patients bring their life stories into the room, every psychoanalytic theorist brings their own autobiography to their work.
Join us for a dynamic, unscripted conversation between Prof. Peter L. Rudnytsky and Dr. Aisha Abbasi. Together, they will explore the subjective component of every psychoanalyst’s theoretical orientation and how biography, history, and theory intersect. This event will move beyond a standard lecture format, inviting the audience to participate in a dialogue about how who we are shapes what we believe and how we practice.
